Poon hill trek is the most adored short treks in Nepal. The name of the trek comes from a hilltop namely Poon hill that is located in the Annapurna region of Nepal. The hill gets its name from the the local community of Poon which surrounds the hills and the foot hills. The hill is around 3210 meters from the sea level and has no settlement on the top of the knoll and is just a viewpoint for the mountain panorama of the Annapurna.

The trail that leads in and out to the final destination is what makes the Poon hill trek very beautiful and the most demanded trek of the decade. The trail is entirely inhabited and every settlement exhibits significant lifestyle, culture, tradition and hospitality. The cultural part aside, you traverse through dense forest of rhododendron that blooms in every hue at time of spring. Walking on the trails of Poon hill trek is as well walking on the historical trail that was once used by the merchants of silk route trade.

Besides the cultural and natural aspect, small elements like the stories and folklores people live by, the interesting history of the people living on the trails. Other elements are the hot springs that people take a break to release their exhaustion from the trek and wind up making friends with several other like minded travellers. Wearing of traditional dress in the village of Ghandruk as well is rejoiced by many and no doubt will be loved by you as well. The small and local museums that homes weapons and the history of the local makes Poon hill trek all in all a very speacial trek. Overall it is a wonderful destination that can be ventured without any experience, in a very cost effective way and at a very short time. Book for this trek today at an unbeatable price!

We start walking gently on the jeep track and make easy ascend to Tikhedhunga. In spring we can take the opportunity to cool off the scorching heat and fatigue by swimming in one of the streams on our way to Tikhedhunga, which has been the major attraction of this trail. Overnight in Tikhedhunga. Meal plan B,L,D.

On this day we make an ascent of 1360 meters in total within 4-6 hours of trek. As it is the first big and long day of the trek we would begin slow and easy. On this very day we embark on this beautifully crafted, manmade staircase with 3500 steps, which radiates the craftsmanship of the locals residing in nearby communities. The climb on these stair is physically challenging but not technical and yet beautiful. Once we reach Ulleri we witness beautiful settlement of Magar communities; an indigenous community with unique way of life and culture. Lookout for oak and Rhododendron forest and langur monkey in their natural habitat beyond Banthanti. After the village of Banthanti we arrive at the village of Nangethanti where we stop for lunch. Finally we cross 2 crystal clear streams and a ridge before we make a final and short climb to Ghorepani. Overnight in Ghorepani. Meal plan B,L,D.

We rise and shine early and reach to Poon hill before dawn to witness one of the most spectacular sunrise over the mountains of Annapurna. After spending brief moment on Poon hill we head down to Ghorepani to collect our bags and have breakfast before being Tadapani bound. We make our way on sheer uphill to Deurali through mesmerizing forest of Rhododendron and oak forest. The view of Annapurna gamut and the deepest gorge; Kaligandaki, awaiting in Deurali as well is worth every effort put climb. From Deurali and except for some treacherous descend the walk is smooth and crosses some streams with swimming prospect along with some beautiful waterfall. Overnight in Tadapani. Meal plan B,L,D.

We make only descends and about 720m in 3-4 hours. The entire trail is inside the deep and dense forest of Rhododendron and oak, this forest is home to several species of birds, butterflies, animals and vegetations. The trails on lush green forest opens up to one of the most beautiful settlements of Ghandruk. Since Ghandruk is put in the itinerary to experience the himalayan culture of Gurung people we opt out to accommodate in one of the homestays rather than teahouses. We have our lunch in Ghandruk itself and observe the culture. We experience the culture best by living and eating like Gurungs of Ghandruk. Overnight in Ghandruk. Meal plan B,L,D

On this day we walk for 4-5 hours and downhill on easy and flat trails. We walk up to Kuimi and further to Syali Bazar, on and off on jeep track and old trail. Further down we take easy trail to Birethanti from where we checkout from ACAP and cross the rustic bridge and take a vehicle to Pokhara.
