Annapurna circuit trek was first opened to the tourists in the 1980’s. Since then, this trek has been the identity of trekking in Nepal. Why is this trekked loved so much ? This is the first trek in Nepal that initiated teahouse trekking in Nepal. What does that mean? Meaning, you get to accommodate in the houses built by the locals while you are on the trails. What is so special about accommodating with locals? The accommodation may not be very modern but it gives you the first hand experience of being in the mountains. You will be able to experience their culture, rituals and everyday life first hand. Not only that, you would as well be able to enjoy non commercial local cuisines and liquors.

Annapurna Circuit Trek also allows you to mingle with the local activities. This trek begins from around 800 meters and reaches to around 5400 meters from the sea level. This inclusiveness of terrain allows you to engage in many activities. The activities includes ploughing the fields in a traditional ways, or stone grinding the lentils, sewing clothes from traditional handlooms and many more. The activities are highly dependent on availability. Furthermore, Annapurna is loved for its lush green forests and its seasonal bloom. There are countless natural and tribal elements you can enjoy along the trek.

Moving on, Annapurna Circuit trek is best known for it’s vantage points. There are several places from different elevation which offers different views of the same mountains. Nevertheless, Annapurna Circuit got its name from circling Annapurna mountain. Annapurna is an 8000 meter mountain which is surrounded by several other mountains. Syange to Tal

Quickly after Syange, you would begin climbing from the Marshyangdi river and then enter the forest. Majority of the walk is on the jeep track. The scenery keeps getting better as you climb higher but the walk become more arduous as you move closer to your final destination. The entire walk would take around 6-7 hours with rests in between. The first half of the trek is more or less just through the forest of pine and river with beautiful views. The second half of the trek is on an open valley of rocks. The forest thins down to make way to green hills and finally to Pisang. Overnight in Pisang.

  • 3 times meals during the trek (staple meal of Daal Bhat for lunch and dinner or  any one item from the menu.)

Pisang to Manang

Today we leave early in the morning after breakfast, to ascent 600 meters through a mediocre difficult trail. From the very first day Marsyangdi river never leaves the trail and does the same for this day. We start strolling on a relatively flat ground in the beginning and then gradually climb upwards. The first noticeable village on this day is Humde - the only village in Manang with airport. After crossing Humde the landscape gets more barren but the views get more better. The views of Annapurna III and IV on one hand and the barren cliffs on the other is captivating. We usually stop for lunch in Mungi. one and half hours easy uphill walk after lunch we make it to Manang. We traverse through various terrain and through the fields of buckwheat, barley and potato and pine. On this day we make our way through remarkable Kani’s (gate) to rustic settlements of Tibetan community namely Manange. Overnight in Manang.

  • Local Teahouse ( 1 Night)

Meals Included

  • 3 times meals during the trek (staple meal of Daal Bhat for lunch and dinner or  any one item from the menu.)

Manang also has hotels and restaurants, which would cater fix for your desires to have coffee and bakery.

Accommodation

  • Local Teahouse ( 1 Night)

Meals Included

  • 3 times meals during the trek (staple meal of Daal Bhat for lunch and dinner or  any one item from the menu.)

Manang to Letdar

The walk from  Manang to Letdar is not very long but since we reach the limit in terms of altitude, we will walk only for 3 hours in the maximum. We would begin late and we would walk slow. We would go through the stone walls and exit Manang. Soon the valley opens up and the views of the mountains get bigger and broader. Depending upon the season, you may as well see a lot of yak herdings in the field. We would stop at Yak Kharka to enjoy watching the Yak grazing in vast field over the tea or just a break. We walk further about an hour and call it a day in Letdar. Overnight in Letdar.

  • Local Teahouse ( 1 Night)

Meals Included

  • 3 times meals during the trek (staple meal of Daal Bhat for lunch and dinner or  any one item from the menu.)

High camp to Thorungla to Muktinath

We rise and shine early and head out of Thorung Phedi for the longest day of Annapurna circuit trek. Furthermore, this is the most difficult section of the trek but equally beautiful that helps us forget all the slogging and hard work. Most of the day’s walk is sheer and uphill, on barren cliffs with wild Yaks. The initial climb from Thorung Phedi connects with Thorung high camp and further around 3 hours of uphill, we would reach Thorung la. The main idea behind starting the day early is to make sure that we cross Thorung – La pass before the sun is up and at its best. We ascent 650+ meters to Thorung – la which is one of the highest passes in the world, from where the view of the mountains in the periphery is as well of the premier quality. From Thorung – La we make a sheer drop 1600 meters toward the holy shrine of Muktinath.

Meals Included

  • 3 times meals during the trek (staple meal of Daal Bhat for lunch and dinner or  any one item from the menu.)

Muktinath - Tatopani

Walking on the trail comes to an end on this day. We would board a jeep on sharing basis and then take the on road trip to Tatopani. The trip would take around 3-4 hours with normal speed on a four wheeler. We would call it a day in Tatopani and enjoy the hot springs. Tatopani is a place of natural hot springs. We can enjoy taking a dip in the pool and wear off all the exhaustion. Overnight in Pokhara.

  • Local Teahouse ( 1 Night)

Meals Included

  • 3 times meals during the trek (staple meal of Daal Bhat for lunch and dinner or  any one item from the menu.)

Me and my friends in a group of five decided to go to Annapurna regions in March and luckily found Hemad in budget tracking company. He questioned us about how much time we had and our preferences and gave us the best plan we could have.

Also he helped us to buy whatever we need for tracking in best price in Kathmandu and it was very nice of him.

Me and my friends, in a 5 people group, were an amazing 12 days trekking Annapurna Circuit, Mar-Apr 2018.We had two guides, one was Hemad, Iranian freelancer (photo, travel services) and Nepali one who named Dev. Everything was planned in a good manner before we arrived in Kathmandu by "Budget Trekking" group. We also visited Pokhara (cultural city) and Kathmandu (Capital) and lots of temples belonging to Buddhism and Hinduism. Finally, we enjoyed bungee jumping and rafting in Last Resort! In brief, I can say I love Nepal, cause of it's awesome mountains, outstanding landscapes, colorful culture and peaceful people as well.Let yourself joy Nepal and love it!
