Ghorepani at 2750 meters from the sea level has been popular as a rest area for long time.In ancient times, the traders taking silk route would often stop here to rest and feed water to thier horses. In current days Ghorepani is frequented by travellers trekking in Nepal and doing Annapurna sanctuary trek or Ghorepani Poonhill trek.

The name Ghorepani alike other places in Nepal has a meaning and it means water for horses. In current context this place has developed as a small town with modern amenities. The village is said to be surrounded by over 5 varieties of Rhododendrons. The views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri is as well very beautiful. The lodges are advanced and they even offer internet connection.
