Lukla

Lukla is a small yet one of the most developed and populous towns in the Everest region of Nepal. It is a well known town amongst the travellers of Everest region. The name of the place means place with a lot of sheeps and goats.

Lukla holds the only commercial airport in the region, which caters trekkers. The town has developed over years to be a modern town and a trade hub. There are over 300 homes alone in lukla and the predominant settlers are Sherpa. You can find one of the nicest pubs which sells national and international beverages, restaurant which serves different cuisines and shops from where you can buy trekking gears.

Lukla is located in 2860 meters and it remains fairly cold in the springs and summer, whereas the temperature reaches below minus in the winters. It snows in lukla in the winter, which further shuts down the airport every once in awhile. You can see different snow capped peaks in the winter season from Lukla.
