Tukuche

Tukuche at 2580 meters is an rustic yet beautiful village in the districts of Mustang. This forever lasting village of Tukuche is an orthodox Thakali settlement, which preserves culture, norms, values and practices that dates back to hundreds of year.

Tukuche means grains in the flat land, and since the time of trans border trade with Tibet, this place has been exchanging its grains with the Tibetan salt. The village has a school and has 2 gompas namely Mahakala and Rani. The houses are wooden and you can see beautiful wooden art carved on the door, windows and balcony. Not to forget, Tukuche houses the oldest distillery in the district that dates back to 200 years.
